Ranbir Kapoor’s film Shamshera tells the story of a dacoit tribe called the Shamshera from the 1800s and their fight for independence against British rule. The first poster of the film was launched in May 2018 by Yash Raj Banner. In this, Ranbir Kapoor played the titular character of Shamshera. In which he is on a double role. Sanjay Dutt has been cast as the antagonist while Vaani Kapoor is playing the lead role in the film as an actress. Apart from these, the film includes starcasts like Ashutosh Rana, Saurabh Shukla, Ronit Roy, Tridha Chaudhary and Pitobash Tripathi.
Originally Shamshera was planned for a cinema home release on 20 December 2019, later Shamshera’s release was continuously postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then rescheduled to 25 June 2021, but due to the second wave of the pandemic, the release was postponed to 18 March 2022, which was once again postponed due to Omicron. Now it is set to hit the theaters on July 22.
